Which sheet size fits your bed?

Sheets are sized to the mattress, not the bed frame or the duvet. Measure the mattress top (width x length) and match it to the table - every size of the Hotel Sheets Direct set uses the same deep-pocket fitted sheet, so thickness up to 16 inches is covered in all six.

Twin or twin XL?

Both are 39 inches wide; twin XL adds five inches of length (80 vs 75). Kids beds and daybeds are almost always standard twin. Dorm beds are almost always twin XL - if the bed belongs to a college, order XL. And a split king is literally two twin XL mattresses side by side, so couples with adjustable bases buy two twin XL sets rather than one king.

Full or queen?

Full (54 x 75 in) suits one adult or a teenager; two adults fit but share 27 inches each - less than a twin. Queen (60 x 80 in) is the standard couples size and the bestselling mattress in America, which is why the queen set carries most of this range’s ratings. If you are furnishing from scratch and unsure, queen is the safe answer.

King or California king?

King (76 x 80 in) is wider; California king (72 x 84 in) is longer and narrower. Width serves couples, kids-in-the-bed mornings and sprawling; length serves sleepers over about 6 ft 2. The two are not interchangeable - king sheets on a cal king mattress leave the foot of the bed bare, so check the label on the mattress before ordering.

What about thick mattresses?

The fitted sheet in every size carries elastic around its entire perimeter and is cut for depths up to 16 inches. Pillow-tops, hybrids and mattresses wearing a topper all fit; on slimmer mattresses the spare fabric tucks underneath. If your mattress is deeper than 16 inches, measure before ordering - that is beyond this set’s cut.
